Based on JSO (Just south of) Lucia, this would be Paul’s Slide. However, JNO Nac Ferguson would be The Chimney Slide. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe we will find out in the am.

9:30 am – it has been astonishingly quiet, after yesterday. However, just now, SF is reporting another major rain band has reached that city. Are we next? Will check back in later.

12:30 am – busy night out there for CHP. In addition to the below, there was a TC of a car JNO JPB with a rock. Involved left her VW bug in the middle of the lane, locked her car, left her purse & cell in the front seat,  and went to Esalen.

This is what The Chimney looked like earlier, JSO Limekiln, when we knew it was going to go.

And that is just what we know about, so far…dawn is a long way away.

7:00 pm – Chalk Peak leads the county with almost 8” and it still continues.

12:30pm – “A mandatory evacuation order has been given. If it is necessary, US 101 will be closed at approximately 2:00 AM, Friday morning for public safety. We will constantly monitor the situation and open the freeway as soon as possible.”

11 am – First, I am without satellite internet since last night, so reporting is difficult. Second, there have already been reports of boulders (Hurricane Point), trees down (Point Lobos/Highlands?)and just now, Mandatory Evacuations in the SB Co burn scars areas.

Do not be on the roads unless you have to, and if you are, pay very close attention to your surroundings and any warnings re hazardous conditions. Up here, it rained cats and dogs from about 4 am until 10 or so. Somewhere between 2-3”, I am guessing. I’ll check later. Winds have been howling since the front passed through. Be safe.

While it will not be this bad for us, we are expecting a decent amount of rain, and possibly some snow, it is good to take a look at the Northern part of our state. NWS suggests not traveling to or from the higher elevations in the Sierra

God forbid there should be an emergency on OCR – fire, injury or something.

Hello Kate,

I wanted to send you this picture of a dog that was just turned into us at the Big Sur Station. It was picked up after wandering around hwy 1 outside of the Taphouse. It has no collar/tags.

If we don’t find the owner, we will have to take the dog to town and hand her over to animal control. This will likely happen tomorrow afternoon.
