The Rock

I am really tired of storms, and need to take a short photography break. I have been exploring another photographer that my artist friend, Leslie White introduced me to, and I am enthralled with her work out of Australia. She is Kirsty and her work is here. I have been “stuck” on “storm watch” for too long now. So here is my first offering:

I have driven by and photographed this Morro Bay landmark so many times, but I’ve never been quite satisfied with it. This day, a few weeks ago, the light intrigued me, so I stopped. I waited as the couple walked into my view and saw this …

One of my readers took the original, adjusted highlights, midtones, and shadows in a photo software (he or she didn’t say which one) and came up with this much brighter version, so I’ve replaced the original. The reader said it took all of 30 seconds, so this is something I need to add to my arsenal! This is much better

  1. Oh my! All you needed was something in the picture to show off the enormity of this. Is it a mini mountain or a huge stone, 🙂 ? What a fun discovery!

  2. I really don’t see how this picture could be improved. It’s a great picture. But don’t be COMPLETELY satisfied.

  3. Hi Kate,
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog, and for mentioning me on yours.
I love this photo. There is a particular beach in one of our National Parks that I have been photographing regularly since 1985. I am still not completely satisfied!
Having said that, you should be proud of this result. It is awe inspiring! Isn’t it incredible how a place never looks the same twice?
