Given that NOAA is predicting yet ANOTHER inch and 1/2 of rain today, with snow levels down to 2500 ft, this road is not going to clear itself, and may be hard for Cal-Trans to keep up with, but they were on the job at 6 am this morning!
Here is the entire evening:

Wow. Winter delayed but winter indeed. Great downspour at the Hawks Perch/River Inn sector through day and night on and off including one five minute impressive totally opaque early eve wall of sky burst. Not cold. The usual gallery leaks near big window. Mid afternoon biker came through, said Palo Colorado had 2 huge redwoods that fell, missed houses/people/cars but not Highway One, no traffic through from that but being immediately tended. Woke this morning to see hailstones covering deck, slept through the delivery. Small, round, M&M size. The air’s unusually warm seems to me at the moment. Rain still falling, but not with steady certainty. River way up but looking more fabulous than dangerous…hope that’s true for us all along it. And my gareden that was seduced by weeks of faux-summer into much bloomery, hoping all including the huge iris will survive the drench. Good luck with all near mudslides, be brave AND prudent. Looking forward to your updates and wanting us all to be well.
As of 1130 Saturday morning, I am just back from a walk at Rocky Creek. I can report that the Old Coast Road is closed from the north at the Bixby Bridge, w/ a CHP officer blocking access. He did let me in though when I told him where I was going: apparently there’s a slide just over Bixby Creek blocking the road there. I don’t know which side of which driveways though….
It appears Palo Colorado Road is open again. There were people going in and out.
Small rocks/gravel here and there on Hwy 1 between Garrapata & Rocky Creek, but quite passable. Right now there is even a gleam of sunshine here in Joshua Canyon!
