So peculiar to think of NYers et al to be reading about ‘our’ road, and an article with a lot of detail but obviously devoid of the passion felt if the author had ever been on it. I don’t think I knew there was a swinging bridge for traffic and the old Highway 1 section will be used as rock-catcher. Is that true? And I don’t think I’ve seen pictures of it before.
Poetic license. The bridge isn’t a swing, and the old road has always “caught” rocks and will continue to do so. Yes, not the passion you and I have for “our” road, that’s for sure. There was so many opportunities for visual poetry, and he missed them.

Of all, and I mean all NY newspapers, the NYTimes gets everything wrong most of the time. Ask anyone ever interviewed by them or a witness first-hand, the Paper of Record is bush-league in reliability. I’m glad we both note being let down by the lack of rapture in that. Most Manhattanites don’t recognize anything outside of their island as being worthy of mention. I’m miffed. But I’ll get over it.
