I want through my way-too-large collection of photos and pulled out some of the photos from five years when it first closed for a relatively long time. It was also a difficult time, first Peiffer Bridge collapsed, and then Mud Creek also happened, during that time frame. The only thing which made it a tad easier was that Nacimiento was in better shape. I have a ton of photos of Paul’s Slide from back then, so will start with one of the earliest I could easily get my hands on from 2017 today, and then intersperse more in future posts as time and space become available.
One of my earliest photos from March 28, 2017. I think this one is a good one to start with, even though it is not the beginning. As you can tell, Caltrans had already done a ton of work by this point.
