Mike, of Firefighter’s blog originally captured this Mt. Wilson webcam shot, but I just couldn’t resist posting it here, it is pure magic! Look at that moonbeam on the right. And to think no photographer took this shot!

Random Photo of Big Sur #6
This one doesn’t require a guess as to where it is (I’ll post another one of those soon) as it is a lovely sign I am fond of … of a great place to eat. Of course, we have many great places to eat, all different.

I had a lovely encounter with some people parked by my front gate last night. First, they did not have any fires, or camping gear. Second, it was a couple my age. Third, they were very apologetic about being trespassing (they were actually looking for a cell signal — passed a few, but what do they know about the San Ardo tower?) and lastly, left immediately, when requested to do so.
But today, hunter’s guns way too close!!
Moon over Big Sur
Ah, the most luscious large moon — the corn moon, according to the Farmer’s Almanac, and Native American Indian Lore.
But what I love about witnessing a beautiful full moon like this? Is knowing that all over the world, where the skies are clear, people of many different nationalities, cultures, and languages, are watching the same full moon with me — different times, yes — but the same full moon.

If this doesn’t prove we are all connected, then nothing will. Enjoy this corn moon, where ever you are!

Sun Dance
I dedicate this to the men and women fighting the monster called the Station Fire, north of Los Angeles. It is the dragon, eating everything in its path. And particularly for the family, friends, and co-workers of the two brothers from LACo fire who were killed in a roll-over today on Mt. Gleason. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
For those who would like to do something, I suggest a donation to the Wildland Firefighters Foundation. They provide support to the families and friends of firefighters who are injured or lose their lives fighting wildland fires.
Sunset Silhouette
And this is why I can put up with all the trespassers, the yay-hoos, and other inconveniences. Who can blame them for wanting a piece of this? This was taken this past weekend.
Tired of Fires
I’m tired of fires. Aren’t you? Let’s take Sunday off and go visit the National Automobile Museum. Going to Hot August Nights? Make sure and stop in and see this treasure. Come, explore some history and Enjoy your Sunday~!~

I’ll continue to post new shots on and off today.

That first lovely hood ornament was from this car, but with my artsy photo, I cannot tell what type of car it was — 30’s it looks like. I was interested in getting the ambiance of the street scene in this one. Maybe someone else will recognize it:

Here is another view of that great blue car, but I still can’t tell what it was. It is the first blue car in the line up. The first, brown & tan car was an early Jaguar. Isn’t it lovely??

And this one, I got such a kick out of it. I normally don’t like flash photos, but I’ll make an exception here. It is an all copper Rolls Royce, a 1921 Silver Cloud with a 6-cylinder “L” head. It originally cost $16,000.

Oh, so many lovely cars. Maybe a few more tonight … oh, and I have checked. Both fires turned the corner, La Brea is 60% contained, and Lockheed is at 50%.
Change of Pace
There’s always a rainbow somewhere. Last week, I woke in Riverside for oral argument. There were incredible photo ops right outside my window, and I will share a few tonight. Tomorrow, I will get back to keeping track of the La Brea Fire, but tonight, I’d like to “mix it up” a bit to share the beauty I witnessed.

Summer Celebration
No, this is not in Big Sur (thank god!). I was in Anaheim for work, last night, and tried my hand at fireworks for the very first time! Lots of fun!! I even got a few decent shots.
Definitely need some photos!
Too many words, not enough visuals. Will try to get some photos up in the next few days! I haven’t run a random photo contest in a while, so maybe one of those, if I can find one …
BSVFB Muster Photos
I’m sitting in cool, wonderful Morro Bay, where not only is it cool, but the internet is SOO much faster. I remembered I owed you some muster photos, so without further ado … (no comments, or names, just photos. Okay, a few silly comments.)

Okay, so the internet is only a little faster, and I don’t have time to load a whole bunch, so a few more now, and a few more later.

And no editing on any of these. What you see is what you get. Some of us have to work for a living.

We all know this guy, don’t we? He’s the guy behind our new fire chief.

And here’s to the woman behind our retiring chief (not the one above, he’s got another fabulous woman behind him!)

There she is, on the left.

And food. Did I mention the food? Lots and lots of food.

The man of the hour — giving an interview.

That’s the line for the food. A long, l-o-n-g line. There were lots of us.

And what’s a muster, without some mustering?

Go to it, boys!!
I’ve got lots more photos, but I rarely seem to get around to Round 2. There are always other things to report, other photos to take. But I’ll try. No promises, but I’ll try.

A group shot I meant to include. Photographers shooting photographers, again.

Those of you who know me, know I am a hat lady. I cannot resist a good hat, or a photo of it.

And red hats are my favorites!
I shot in both jpg and raw. Those close-ups of people in jpg were too saturated, and the skin tones not right, so I posted the raw ones. Of groups or the muster, the saturation was just about right, so I used the jpg ones. You can tell the differences. As I said, these are straight out of the camera, I didn’t have time for editing, and one can tell. I am always learning.
