2:30 pm – They just called 3480 an 3482 back to the fire on hwy1 an 46 west…wonder what’s going on

1:30 pm – A friend just heard a dispatch for a veg fire on hwy 1 an 46 west….B3411, A/A340, T74 & 94, Engs. 3466, 3469, 3472, 3480, 3482, WT 57, 2 crews out of questa, D3442 were all dispatched. Also,A/A340 an the two tankers were just dispatched. This is just south of Cambria, near the Cal Trans yard. I am in Morro Bay with a dog at the vet. I will be keeping an eye on this today, and keep posting, as I learn more.

9:30 am – Confirmed, one structure a complete loss. The fire did not spread to the other structures. The solar system caught fire. The resident is employed at Ragged Point, and was only able to get out what was loaded in her truck.

Around 6:00 am this morning, a fire broke out at Sea View Ranch, up above Mud Creek, per Jim Kimball, monitoring the scanner. There was a full response by local and USFS fire engines. At 6:30 am, Cal Trans reported seeing large flames. It is believed that one of the structures on site was fully engaged. There has been little if any radio traffic since 8:00, but that area has poor transmission capabilities. I will report what I can, as information becomes available. Not a good start to the season, and WAY early!

And yesterday he saw four mother calf pairs off Dolan Point. Okay, I’ll have to add that one from River Inn. Off for Easter with the Ladies of the Sur, in my new East bonnet – a Tilley’s. (Story to follow at a later date.)

BIG SUR MARATHON TO BE RUN ON HIGHWAY 1 NEXT SUNDAY, APRIL 27

MONTEREY COUNTY (CARMEL/BIG SUR) – The Big Sur International Marathon will be run along Highway 1 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 27. The race will start in Big Sur and will end at Rio Road in Carmel.

Traffic on Highway 1 will be restricted from 4:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Hwy. 1 will be closed from Sycamore Canyon Road to Carmel Valley Road. While the southbound lane is closed for the race, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will use the northbound lane to lead caravans of traffic in alternating directions at three different intervals during this time. Therefore, motorists traveling in both directions should expect delays of up to two hours.
