I have a beautiful Thanksgiving photo from Dan I have been trying to upload for over 24 hours, and will continue to try between cooking. Got the turkey in at 9 am, my target time!
WEATHER UPDATE: looks like little or no rain today. It is all expected to stay of the coast.
AIRLIFT PATIENT UPDATE: he was transferred to Stanford ICU, where he stayed until Monday evening. I went to see him on Tuesday. He had some lucid moments, and some very confused moments. He was on a feeding tube. They ran a CAT Scan that day, and everything appeared normal. I called him last night and had a normal, lucid conversation with him. The feeding tube had been removed. There was one funny moment when I said, I’ll call you tomorrow, and he parroted that back, and added, if someone reminds me. It is hard to focus in here, it is just so busy! I laughed and said no need to remember, I’ll call you!
I am having a very thankful Thanksgiving. I hope you do as well. Life is too short for anything else!

I saved a life, today … With some help from Jon Knight, BSVFD, Casey of the USFS, PV Station, an amazing CHP helicopter pilot i think named Joe, a CHP paramedic, Danny, and a CHP patrol officer, whose name I didn’t catch. I have photos of the helicopter landing which I will upload.
There are so many technological things I am thankful for, but today it was my iPhone and my iPad. I was able to give them my GPS coordinates because of the compass app I have on my iPad – didn’t know my address, which is meaningless anyway, but had my GPS coordinates! And with the iPhone and cellular booster, I was able to talk to the helicopter pilot before he took off to tell him where the evac needed to take place. Thank you Steve Jobs.

I am pretty exhausted, so more tomorrow – plus one who wasn’t saved but passed on at age 78. The life I saved will be 51 tomorrow.
UPDATE #59 **
HIGHWAY 1/ROCKY CREEK VIADUCT PROJECT IS COMPLETED
NOTE: All work requiring lane closures has been completed. Very little work is left on the hillside clearing debris.
The project to construct a permanent viaduct about 15 miles south of Carmel near the Rocky Creek Bridge began on Sept. 4, 2012. Completion was scheduled to occur at the end of October. The project is 100% complete. The temporary signal has been removed.
The contractor for this $11 million viaduct project is Golden State Bridge of Martinez, CA.
CALTRANS WISHES TO THANK THE BIG SUR COMMUNITY FOR THEIR PATIENCE DURING THIS PROJECT.
I remember this day, 50 years ago. I heard it over the loudspeaker at school. We heard it on the radio, first, then watched it on television, as we had watched him, his wife, and his children from the moment he was elected. It touched the soul of the nation and we cried together. I cried again as I watched the CBS special Saturday night. 50 years, and the memory has never faded.

This is one of my all-time favorites, Fairy Habitat. If you have been following this blog for a while, you will recognize it.
