HIGHWAY 1 REMAINS OPEN ON THE BIG SUR COAST
MONTEREY / SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTIES – Highway 1 on the Big Sur coast remains fully open as of 11 am today.
Caltrans maintenance crews continue to patrol the roadway in advance of storms expected to arrive later this afternoon.
A full closure of the roadway may take place as early as 2 pm today.
Contracted crews made significant progress at Paul’s Slide (PM 22) over the last three days in removing debris from the catchment area in advance of additional slide activity expected there in upcoming days.

This graphic shows Big Sur getting almost 14” of rain in the next 14 days. Highway 1 is not going to be pretty.

It e as just 5 weeks back & I left the peninsula to travel 140 miles N. to have more authentic winter condition’s..I found them & got tired of the lower 30’s temps..came home..& now ! Boom🎈
