BigSur Kate & Facebook

Please pass the word to those who follow me on FB. TPTB do not like the documentation I sent them so suspended my account. They want my CDL ori Passport or some crap. I think Keith Vandervere has it right – the NSA wants me. LOL. For what, I don’t know.

I have sent in photos of my awards from Sam Farr and from Bill Monning, but don’t know if that will be enough. Until the idiots at FB review those documents, I am cut off from FB.

Pacific Valley School closed

The School is closed today, as the bus could not get north to pick up students. Paul’s slide is apparently quite active. And our teacher from Cambria could not get through. I know CT was out at first light, and I have been promised a report when they open the road so will let all know.

Okay, now this is scary. This map shows a maximum of 45″ in the next 10 days. (See top of chart in white on right.) Yeah, in the brightest purple spots, which seems to include Big Sur.

Flash Flood Watch…

Was just issued through tomorrow for entire area, apparently, as I got notices for Lockwood, Plaskett, and Big Sur. Also, I received a very interesting comment on my other post  today that indicates this upcoming up to 7″ in 36 hours, may just be the dress rehearsal for a worse direct hit coming to us Saturday through Monday. If you can stay off the roads, particularly this weekend, would advise you do so. I will be watching reports on the highway closely. I am not going anywhere.

From NWS & MoCo OES – weather alert

From Daniel Swain of Weather West:

img_1720

From the National Weather Service through the Monterey County Office of Emergency Services, there will be a significant accumulation of rain over the next 36 hours. As the ground saturates, earth movement is possible.

The next system is very strong and moisture laden.
The heaviest rains will begin late evening and into the overnight hours into Wednesday.
The Soberanes and Chimney burn scar areas could see significant rainfall totals when this storm passes. They still do not have a handle on any significant rain rates and when those may occur. But high rain rates over the burn areas are cause for concern. They are looking at that this morning as the latest model runs are coming in.
The total rain accumulation over the Big Sur Coastal mountain areas could be upwards of 7 inches over the next 36 hours.
The Chimney burn scar area could see significantly higher amounts of rain. This could have a significant impact on the water sheds that burned that feed Lake Nacimiento.
They believe that Monterey County will see the greatest impact after sunset and through the overnight hours into Wednesday morning.

Forecast for the week beginning 1/2/17

And here is another one from Daniel Swain of Weather West, covering the next TWO weeks. We are overcoming our drought in one swoop! Looks like 16-20″. Oh my.

img_1719

Latest 7 day precipitation outlook from NWSWPC shows locally 10-15″ for coastal range in Monterey County. Oh, lordy.

Couple Missing – Big Sur?

img_1715

Last seen at the Cambria General Store (I think on the 23rd) and have two large dogs traveling with them. Per a family friend- one is a male that looks like a golden retriever, the other is a male -dark brown with a black spot, similar size. Olivia’s family has been all over Cambria and posted flyers.
