Is there life after iPad?

Mine died a quick death last week, so I can answer that … I think not. No idea I was so dependent on that little critter. I hadn’t backed up to iCloud since mid-June (hard at home). I think I will probably have lost some contacts, some appointments, some notes, and lord knows what else.

My new one will be here later this week. I am lost in the blogging world until then. Sorry =-(

Weather, 7/23/13

I haven’t been able to get the current radar report, but I watched rain to the north of me just after dawn. Can’t tell if it reached the ground, though. No thunder, which is good, so no dry lightning. If I ever do get the current radar pic, I’ll post it. Otherwise, enjoy this muggy, tropical day, and if you are getting or did get rain where you are, let us know.

Tassajara Fire & weather

As most of you know, the Tassajara Fire is pretty much over. Yesterday, it was 217 acres and 90% contained, the last 10% has been inaccessible.

We have a monsoonal flow coming in from the south. Slight chance of rain and lightning, but very slight, NWS says for our area. Any lightning anticipated here or over the Sierras is expected to be “Wet” not dry. Winds last night were strong enough to displace my sun umbrella. Guess I’ll fold it up and put it away for the day.

From my perspective up here this am, light, fluffy clouds to the north of me, and dark, almost ominous, skies to the south.

Oh, and I could not get any photos of the rock shed Saturday to post here. It was socked in with fog on the coast.

Weather, 7/2/13

The Bay Area NWS modified today’s forecast to include a slight possibility of rain, which i noted on twitter. I don’t know why I was up at 5:30, but I happened to glance out my window westward several minutes later (7 or 8) and saw what I thought was two lightning strikes. Then I thought I was hallucinating, but I tweeted Bay Area NWS anyway, and they said:

NWSBayArea
@NWSBayArea
@bigsurkate Our lightning detection network just showed two strikes off the Big Sur Coast.. You’re not imagining.

Later, NWSBayArea said they were about 60 miles out.

Yesterday at 9:00 am, the outside temp recorded as 105 F. Last night it got below 85 for the first time since Friday – a cool 82. Needless-to-say, sleep is a hard commodity to come by.

Waking to a different Season

Do you feel like you woke up on a different planet? Amazing extremes from yesterday to today – clear, hot, dry summer conditions yesterday. Today? Windy, cold, damp winter conditions. If not a different planet, definitely a different season from yesterday.

Now that I’ve let the dogs out, and back in, rolled up the windows on my Jeep, changed from light T-shirt and shorts sleeping gear to Merino wool sweater and sweats, I think I’ll hibernate for a while. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Suspect

April 17th – Latest update

9:30 p.m. – Details are a bit sketchy, but a suspect in a Boulder Creek robbery, with warrants out of Sonoma and Monterey County for robbery and burglary, had eluded police so far tonight, but according to my sources has been down here since last night, approaching friends of mine at the Pub last night, pulling a knife on several locals last night and this morning, as well as accosting a couple of women early this morning near Nepenthe.  Current reports are that this fugitive, reportedly Dimitri Storm, led police on a high speed chase, and then went into Palo Colorado Canyon.

At this time, Wednesday at 9:30 pm, reports are still coming in, and information cannot be confirmed, although some of my sources had contact with this individual, and other sources are with law enforcement.

More information as it becomes available.
