For your weekend viewing pleasure, a magical place. This place soaks up all the love it receives and gives back in food & beauty. I’m sure it is the work of many, many people, but two I know who put in a great deal of care into this wonderland are Shirley Ward and Kyle Evans. Enjoy this small tribute to a most glorious place. Thanks for letting me wander.

Stoney Fire, 6/4/16
Here is another shot of the fire from Geri Kavanagh-Baird from 8 pm last night. Looks like they are getting a handle on it. The photo is so dramatic due to the setting sun and the smoke it is filtered through. Fires do make for some awesome photos. Unless something untoward happens, this will be my last post on this fire.

Another special wildflower
There is a patch of Delphiniums I have watched for years. It is not a big patch. Some years, it is only 1/2 a dozen or so, other years, it is a couple dozen or so. Never bigger. As all wildflower lovers know, Delphiniums are blue.
This year, “my” patch has a pink one. This is not the clearest photo I’ve ever taken, but the wind was blowing it around. I will try again tomorrow, but for now, enjoy this version.

Favorite Big Sur Wildflower
I really needed a change of pace, from the problems of overuse, to something much more beautiful, so I suspected you did too. This is the Calochortus venustus, or Mariposa Lily. My favorite.

May Wildflowers on Plaskett Ridge
Here are just a few of the wildflowers I photographed on the way down Saturday.

And then there were – what used to be the exceedingly rare, but much more prolific in the last few years – Charmin flowers.

Mother and Calf in Big Sur
This glorious shot was taken in the waters off the coast. It is by Dan Danbom. It is striking.
Happy Sunday!

Easter Eve
This is why people want to share my space … Can’t say I blame them.

I get to live here. I am blessed.

Big Sur Snow Photos, 1/31/16

By popular demand, here are a couple shots from this afternoon. The clouds dissipated, the sun came out to play, and Cone and Twin Peaks finally displayed their winter clothes. Thank you, Big Sur.
These snow photos preempted my intended 1/31/98-1/31/16 comparison post, so I will post that tomorrow. Still hoping for a spectacular sunset shot, too.
Foto Friday, 1/29/16
This is one I took from the conference I attended during last weekend’s storms. I am caught up momentarily, so will be back keeping an eye on all things Big Sur.
